How to romanticise your every day with scent and intention

Life is busy, we get it. In the middle of the busyness of life’s everyday routines, it’s easy to lose the magic. We get caught in the rhythm of work, family, household chores, and obligations — suddenly the week has flown by, and we’ve barely taken a moment to breathe.

So I wanted to give some simple tips how to begin romanticising your everyday, no matter how ordinary it might seem.


1. Start and End Your Day with Scent

Of course I was always going to include scent as someone that is a passionate aromatherapist and candle maker. Scent can have such a powerful effect on the mind and mood. Beginning your morning with lighting an uplifting essential oil candle while you are rushing through the morning routine, — (I would recommend something citrusy or herbal) — can help energise your senses before you have had your first coffee. Then, in the evening, when you want to signal to your brain to slow down, a grounding, calming scent like lavender, vetiver, or cedarwood can send that signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. 2. Create Tiny Rituals Around Everyday Tasks

Pouring your morning coffee, washing your face, tidying the kitchen — these can all become small acts of reverence when done slowly and with presence.

Pause for five minutes at your desk and breathe deeply. Read just a few pages of a book in your lunch break. Step outside with your tea and breathe in nature. Stretch in the living room with the lights dimmed. Put your phone firmly in your pocket when you walk the dog and really see where you walk on your route. These small resets matter. They help you return to your day with more clarity and calm.


4. Dress Your Space Like It Deserves Romance

A little effort goes a long way in making everyday surroundings feel special. Try fresh flowers on the table, making your tea in your favourite mug in the cupboard, soft lighting, floaty fabrics,  and of course — a beautiful, nature-inspired candle that scents the space with elegance. Never save your candles "for best". You deserve to be thought of as best.

Romanticising your home doesn’t mean perfection — it’s about layering comfort and things that bring you joy into the everyday.


5. Celebrate the Ordinary

There’s beauty in the ordinary, if we’re willing to notice it. As the well known saying goes - there is magic in the mundane', and it is so true.
